#castrovalley#news#fyi – This morning (2/14/21), about 2:00 a.m., Eden Township Substation deputies with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (left to right: Deputies Howard, Eastus, Burbank, Letica, and Mahaffey) helped locate a family who had driven off the road and into a heavily wooded ravine on Crow Canyon Road in Castro Valley. The driver was able to call for help, but he was uncertain of their location due to heavy brush and could only provide Crow Canyon Road near Castro Valley Boulevard as an approximate location. Several units searched the area and were initially unable to locate the family. Deputies called the driver back on his cell phone and utilized their emergency lighting to narrow down the search area. The driver was located at 5363 Crow Canyon Road. His family was still in the vehicle in the ravine. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle, which was heavily damaged and appeared to have traveled about 150 feet off the road and 200 feet down into the ravine. Deputies helped remove the family from the vehicle and escort them (and their dog) out of the ravine to medical personnel who were on the scene.
